A Moving Bed Trickling Filter (MBTF) is a biological technology used to clean a gas and water stream in one system.

How Moving Bed Trickling Filters work

MBTFs consist of a column, which contains a gasket. This gasket contains micro-organisms that break down contaminants in the air and water stream. The gasket moves through the system, which means that it is self-cleaning. At the bottom of the column, the contaminants are separated from the gasket and thickened to a sludge. The gasket is cleaned and then reinserted, clean, at the top of the column. The contaminated water stream flows with the gasket from the top to the bottom of the column, where it exits the column, clean. The clean gas stream, however, exits the column at the top.
