Mesh Pads

In mesh pad filtration, particles larger than 0.5 microns are removed from a gas stream. 

This technology is primarily used for droplet separation. The mesh pad removes liquid droplets from the gas stream or air inlet. Droplets larger than 0.5 micron can be filtered out. 

How mesh pads work

In a demister, droplets are separated by impacting and colliding with the mesh pad. The mesh pads (demisters) are available in a large variety of materials. The chosen material depends on the precise conditions, such as temperature and pH, and can be made of anything from plastic and fibreglass to metal wires.

Mesh pad applications

Mesh pads are primarily used to remove liquid droplets from gas streams after, for example, absorption or strip processes. Most distillation columns, gas scrubbers and stripping towers will therefore contain a droplet separator.
